The difference between men and women authors
The difference between men and women authors
Know The Writers:
“Women creates history”. It’s not just a proclamation but it’s
a fact. When you compare two human bodies male and female, women
exhibit more feelings compared to men. At the time of Shakespeare,
women were mostly addressed as “Mistresses”. In Shakespeare’s
sonnets, he has presented all of his sonnets to his
“Mistress”(Wife).
Men in English Literature is today’s common fact. Whenever we
talk about English or English Literature, it’s mostly about
Shakespeare or Robert Frost Lee, or W.B Yeats. These men subsidized
most of their works in the field of English Literature that made
many young writers follow in their footsteps. Whenever someone
talks about romance, it’s “Romeo and Juliet”. It’s now a “tour de
force” that created history in the world of words. But how many of
the literature subjects celebrate Veronica's poems, letters, and
writings as one of the integral parts of the course. No doubt that
we all love William Shakespeare, Rudyard Kipling, and many others.
But most of them Forget about her and her writings. Women should
be given equal importance were the major slogans advanced in
society through their works and knowledge at their duration. Women
in 1546, were a symbol of intellect. This also shows that, if a
woman wants to express herself, she expresses it in the right way
and it lasts till the earth takes the final rotation.
The lesser-known facts about women in literature go way back to
the 23 century BCE(2285-2250). Women are born storytellers. The
best example to satisfy this statement is “every mother lets out
a story to her kids”. Men from those ages had to look around and
had to analyze the ongoing situation, then imagine circumstances
according to it and had to frame all their experiences in those
paragraphs. Enheduanna is known as the first female poet who was
established as a poetess and retains the position as the first
female writer as well as standing up for many writers at that
time. Enheduanna is a Mesopotamian poetess. She has been ranked
as the greatest poet of that century for imprinting the words in
Sumerian Literature books. She also wrote hymns that were
commemorated to priestess Inanna. She was the first-ever writer
to witness as a poet before all the men advanced into the world
of words. Later on, women’s writings were ignored due to
inferior standings in a male-dominated society. The actual
revolution took place in Veronica Franco’s time(1546). The bold
way of expressing or the readers witnessed an outspoken women’s
voices at that time. She captured the interest of Domenico
Venire (1517-1582), a Venetian poet and the head of the most
renowned vernacular literary academy in Venice, who became her
reader and protector. A frequent visitor to his private literary
salon at Ca' Venire (the Venire palace), Franco composed sonnets
and capitoli in terza Rima for exchange with male poets. In the poems, Franco is forthright about her profession; she is often
erotic, even sexually unambiguous.
Emily Dickinson
Emily Dickinson is Applauded as one of the leading
poetesses of the 19th century. To this day, her works,
and her words never vanished from pages as well as hearts.
One of her stitched poems, that stands out and attract
appreciation is “success is counted sweetest”
Through the poem, Dickinson illustrates that once a
person has truly lost, they can appreciate success.
Summary: a person who has failed knows the value of
success. A soldier who got defeated knows the value of
success. A person who fails can talk more about success.
So, to succeed, you must be a failure at least once.
Failures are the greatest teachers who teach the art of
succeeding. Using this comparison between a soldier and Warfield as an apology, one can relate it to their
personal lives.
Let’s dig it out.
Success is counted sweetest
Success is counted sweetest
By those who ne'er succeed.
To comprehend a nectar
Requires sorest need.
Metaphors in the poem:
Sweetest, nectar, forbidden ear.
Sorest is the oldest name of Greatest.
Ne'er (never, ne'er(adverb) not ever; at no time in the
past or future.)
Who expects success, everyone does but mostly the people
who failed to deliver success look at it and think of it
as the sweetest. Also, a person who truly failed looks
up to success and comprehend it. Can also be an adequate
metaphor that explains the joy of success. The bliss
inside cannot be tied up for too long when you succeed after establishing loaded effort. But who expects it or
who counts it as the sweetest? A person who never got
succeeded loves to taste success. To call it the sweetest
one, one must know how it feels to be a failure. It
automatically creates gratitude that is earned.
Nectar, here again, is used as a metaphor to applaud
success.
Nectar also can be a metaphor for wine. Sweet and
Everybody comprehend wine.
To appreciate success, it requires sorest(strongest and
Greatest) need. And what is the need? To appreciate
someone, you need a cause. Failure(nectar)is the need.
If someone knows the value of being a failure they
appreciate it and sometimes they would be held from
getting the desired success. Hence, they comprehend it.
It is the strongest as well as the greatest requirement.
Sometimes a failure appreciating and understanding
success will be sweeter than the actual success. They
tend to know more and grow more.
Not one of all the purple Host
Who took the Flag today
Can tell the definition
So clear of victory
Further, the purple host refers to a conquering army
that has defeated its enemy and it is the color of
royalty and victory, in here it is a metaphor.
In, that despite technically having the victory, the
winning soldiers do not understand the meaning of
success because they have not experienced failure.
Indicating a soldier’s effort. That explains, not the
people who took the fag today(Victory after conquering
the enemy) can tell the definition So clear of victory.
Even though people who have prospered by achieving today
cannot define success so clearly as they have never
experienced that failure. A Failure can technically talk
about success but a successful person cannot speak about
failure.
As he defeated – dying –
On whose forbidden ear
The distant strains of triumph
Burst agonized and clear!
The complete paragraph is stated in the form of metaphor
to indicate a struggle of a person to, get success using
the battlefield as an analogy. At the Battlefield,
soldiers would get maimed but still, they hear the
victory voice of the enemy loud and clear.
As he defeated-Dying- symbolizes the amount of pain and
struggle a person would have undergone while running on
the track to reach the goal. To attain success. But inside
he will be dying or he will be dead. Yet loses track.
On whose forbidden ear, meaning, outlawed from hearing
the victory voices. Prohibited from hearing the voices
of triumph representatives. The Warfield as well as the
journey of success, are filled with raging wars, fighting
for victory, and finally achieving it. In the Warfield,
the soldier would have fought bravely and only he knows
the true value of success. Also indicates, how a receded
soldier understands the value of success and victory when he hears those victory voices of the enemy. Likewise, how
a failed person understands the value of success when he
hears the successful folk’s voice. It always makes
failures yearn more. So, the poem valuing Success keeping
Warfield as a metaphor from a failure’s point of view.
The one who fails to deliver success comprehend the value
of success. One who is defeated understands the
importance of success.
William Shakespeare
Sometime between 1585 and 1592, he began a successful
career in London as an actor, writer, and part-owner of
a playing company called the Lord Chamberlain's Men,
later known as the King's Men. At age 49 (around 1613),
he appears to have retired to Stratford, where he died
three years later.
One of his writings in this research taken is
“My Mistress Eyes”. Here, Shakespeare tries to portray
the beauty of his Wife.
My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damask'd, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;
My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground:
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.
Meaning: With a deftness of touch that takes away any
sting that might otherwise arise from implied criticism
of other sonneteers, the poet satirizes the tradition
of comparing one's beloved to all things beautiful
under the sun, and things divine and immortal as well.
It is often said that the praise of his mistress is so negative that the reader is left with the impression
that she is almost unlovable. On the contrary, although
the octet makes many negative comparisons, the sestet
contrives to make one believe that the sound of her
voice is sweeter than any music and that she far
outdistances any goddess in her merely human beauties
and her mortal approachability.
The poem begins with the speaker comparing parts of his lover's
body to beautiful objects, finding, in each case, that her body
is less beautiful than the thing to which it’s being compared.
other words, Shakespeare is saying in Sonnet 130 that the
Dark Lady is not exactly conventionally beautiful in any
sense, but he still thinks she is just as fine as any
other woman – unlike these other women, isn’t having her
beauty ‘talked up’ by excessive and ridiculous
comparisons (‘your eyes shine like suns’, ‘your voice is
as sweet-sounding as music’)
“
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;”.
Even
though it negatively impacts, he is trying to define her
beauty by comparing it with an object which has been
objectified in the real world as well as in our senses. If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
If a poet wanted to be passionate and sweet, he might compare
his lover's hair to something soft, smooth, and shiny, like
silk. Here’s the expression, the mistress's hair is compared to
black wires sticking out of the top of her head. This is also
his way of expressing his love for his mistress while
applauding her and her beauty. Every man loves his wife,
that’s what Shakespeare has done and expressed it in
words.
I have seen roses damask'd, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
damasked- it just means an edifice of mixed colors woven into
expensive fabric. So imagine a bouquet of red and white roses.
The speaker has comprehended beautiful roses like that, but his
mistress's cheeks don't remind him of them at all.
Major Themes in “Sonnet 130: Love, appearances, and admiration
are the major themes of this sonnet. The poem presents two
things: the worldly standard of beauty and the poet’s definition
of beauty. Throughout the poem, he talks about the physical
features of his mistress that do not match the standards of
beauty. She is not at all stunning like a goddess, but he still
loves and cherishes her. To him, she is unique and rare. That is why he does not measure his love. He just believes that her
beauty is no less than any other woman in the world when
compared with.
Conclusion
As discussed earlier, around 70% of the world’s
population had been in an arena of men’s writings. They
knew William Shakespeare’s sonnets, W.B Yeats poems, or
Other great author’s novels and stories. The school
books too were filled with male author’s poems and
novels. But according to recent data shows female authors
rose to fame in large numbers and one of them took the
position of no.1 author in the world. Nobody can suppress
talents. Then in the 15th century, it was Veronica Franco
who was outspoken and wrote boldly. Now, in this
generation, we witness many female authors who are
gaining a lot of popularity through their works. When
you compare two human physique females and males,
females exhibit more feelings compared to males. “Both men and women have diverse ideas and way of expressing
it” as of the above example, pain and Happiness are part
of life and how to develop the skills of expressing it
as an author it’s left to the individuals. The authors
made me realize that both men and women undergo a series
of pain and happiness. Their words talk aloud than their
actual mouth. Their words travel across different minds
than themselves. Their manifestation will be hidden but
their words will be traveling down the streets of minds
like King and Queen. Their pen knows the value and amount
of time they have invested in creating it. Their pain
will be seen on the paper in form of words. Their
happiness will be seen on the reader’s face at the end
of each sentence.
My research concludes women have different types of
emotions as well as different types of feelings which
appear to be on the paper. Every sentence is a part of
their past, personality, happiness, way of looking at
someone/something, and their surroundings. These
aspects play a pivotal role in the author's life. Overall women authors have a wide range of exploring
the art of writing. As expressed, men have had ruled
the world of words and still being a part of this
ruling world. The major difference between the Authors
is, the way of expressing themselves. Everyone is
unique and special. Everyone has a way to create a
world out of words. When you look at Emily Dickinson as
an American poet, and William Shakespeare as England
poet, look at the depth and the value they have created
in this world. Even the words when we compare have a
lot of difference between the 16th-century and the 19th -
century. And, yet it depends on the way of analyzing
the situation, and the topic that the authors choose.
Back in The 15th Century, it was a tight bounded where
women could not express much, but in the 19th century, it
was the act of freedom where women started exploring the
world of words and imprinted their feeling on papers.
