Literature. King of tragedy storylines is remembered even today
for the volume of works that every book lover would never forget
the lines written by Shakespeare.
‘Men in English Literature’ is a known fact. Whenever we talk
about English or English Literature, it’s mostly about
Shakespeare or Robert Frost Lee, or W.B Yeats. These men
subsidized most of their works in the field of English Literature
that made many young writers follow in their footsteps. Whenever
someone talks about romance, it’s “Romeo and Juliet”. It’s now
a “tour de force” that created history in the world of words
Romeo and Juliet is one such tragedy book amongst a few other
plays like Hamlet, Macbeth, and King Lear, and so on.
As a reader and an author I always express as Shakespeare’s
books never die. His words will be appearing or his visions
might be imprinting somewhere in a book.
ROMEO AND JULIET’S CHARACTERS REVIEWED
Romeo and Juliet is a fictional character inscribed by
Shakespeare to express the art of love between two characters.
It’s a story between two families that takes the lives of two
young adulthood. A vendetta between two powerful families bursts into
bloodshed. A group of masked Montagues attracts further
conflict by trespassing a Capulet party. A young lovesick
Romeo Montague falls instantly in love with Juliet Capulet,
who is due to marry her father’s choice, the County Paris.
With the help of Juliet’s nurse, the women arrange for the
couple to marry the next day, but Romeo’s attempt to halt a
street fight leads to the death of Juliet’s cousin, Tybalt,

reunited with Romeo, Juliet follows the Friar’s plot and fakes
her death. The message fails to reach Romeo, and believing
Juliet dead, he takes his life in her tomb. Juliet wakes to
find Romeo’s corpse beside her and kills herself. The grief stricken family agrees to end their feud.
The storyline is purely based on love and what happens when two
lives love each other so strongly out of consciousness, and
madness.
Let’s move on to the character analysis
Romeo Montague
‘ROSES, UNIVERSAL SIGN OF LOVE REPRESENTS ROMEO”
The character is well known to everybody from the famous Book
called “conceited Tragedic Love story of Romeo and Juliet”
written by Shakespeare.
Romeo is the protagonist, a young youthful, and cheerful
adulthood boy who is from a Montague family supposed to be the
only son of Lord Montague and Lady Montague.
Although the tale is said to having a resemblance to “Xenophon
of Ephesus”. The character Romeo is similar to that of Pyramus
In Ovid’s Metamorphoses, A young adulthood boy who is unable to
meet the object of his affection due to a long history of the
family quarrel and ends up killing himself after falsely knowing
the death of his loved one. But apart from being synced, Romeo
the only son of lord and Lady Montague is a cheerful youth. A
16-year-old youth and his youthfulness lead to the tragedy
death as he never is able to accept Juliet as his wife in front
of the whole world due to their long quarrel history between
Montagues and Capulets. In the beginning, Romeo is menacing over
his unrequited love for Rosaline. During the course of the story,
Romeo Starts getting matured. But his impatience, youthfulness,
and his overly dramatic love for Juliet make him take unstable
choices in life by marrying Juliet or even killing Tybalt and
killing himself which is set to be the drawbacks of Romeo. From
the beginning when the reader starts reading the story gets to
analyze that Romeo was an inexperienced lover. His way of
expressing or the way of admiring is detailed to be a young and untried lover. He is just a blind lover. He has no clarity stick
onto. At the foundation of the story, he would be looking for
Rosaline. Again here it shows his immaturity and not knowing
what to look up to when falling in love with someone. This is
also considered to be an immediate decision. He is a man who
expresses through poems and sonnets, but deep inside he never
expresses it frankly and outspokenly. He is a child inside. when
he learns of his banishment, he lies on the floor wailing and
crying over his fate. He has a friendship quality that has been
executed when Tybalt kills his friend Mercutio he avenges Tybalt
to shows his loyalty and a great friendship act. From the
beginning, Romeo is called an emotional soul. He has emotions
and he accepts and expresses them. Romeo is the representation
of every adulthood boy who takes a decision without knowing the
pros and cons of the situation and the future depended on that
decision.
GREAT QUALITIES OF ROMEO
The idealism that makes everybody love him and get attracted to
him.
A loyal friend everybody deserves. The story showcases the
friendship qualities too that make Romeo stand outside the
crowd.
He falls in love quickly but yet showcased as a sign of
immaturity to fall in love within fractions.
A poetic way of expressing that makes him be unique and loved
by everyone.
DRAWBACKS
- Patience is the key, but he had lost the key to unlocking the door of success.
- His impatience led him to kill Tybalt and become a murderer, his impatience led him to marry Juliet in secret which eventually did not enjoy being a husband to a resplendent wife, and his impatience led him to take poison and kill himself without waiting for a minute or two.
- A vengeful soul. Went on to showcase his loyalty and became a murderer.
- At an immature age taking the decision of getting married made him take decisions based on that in the wrong and troublesome ways.
JULIET
Juliet is known to be another name for ‘PROMISE’ in the world
of love.
Juliet Capulet is a female protagonist, daughter of Lord Capulet
and Lady Capulet and sister of Tybalt Capulet as well as Rosaline
Capulet. Romeo enters the party to express his love to Rosaline
Capulet and Thus falls in love with Juliet that takes a lot of
turns through the valley of love.
Juliet, a strong passionate, and headstrong girl, who is
innocent and attractive. A Beauty with the brain.
‘I gave thee mine before thou didst request it’
Romeo requests that Juliet declares her love for him and Juliet
simply replies that she has already done so.
This shows her passion for love. Before all this, Lady Capulet
would have expressed that Paris wants to marry Juliet. Juliet
agrees and says
‘WILL TRY TO SEE IF SHE CAN LOVE HIM”.
This
looks a little childish but yet a strong hidden feeling of a
person when asked to get married to someone who is not familiar
to the heart. When we look at the story, Juliet has no friend
of her age to talk about anything and everything. She fails in
communicating about intimacy which shows the sign of not being
so interested in love at that age.
She is decisive. She tries to fake her death thinking about
getting along with Romeo by listening to a plan made by Friar
Laurence.
‘Love give me strength, and strength shall help afford”
This shows the decisive nature of Juliet. she instantly agrees
to this plan without knowing what could happen in the future.
She was passionate about love, which made her fake her death
resulting in Romeo dying. Never got a chance to at least see him
and wait for a minute before taking this decision.
Juliet is also considered to be a flirting person, as she sees
Romeo and when he arrives and starts the conversation she falls
for him instantly and takes it to another level of conversation
which makes their connection stronger and resulting in a
tragedy end. A teenager when falls in love and her decisions
stand at a crossroads what will she do? Juliet is the
representation of every thirteen-year-old girl who loves to be
loved without knowing the meaning of love and commits herself
to someone and to some situation that eventually goes in the
wrong direction.
Great qualities of Juliet
A strong Girl. A Passionate girl. A loyal Girl. An independent
girl. Her respectful nature makes her too much attractive.
Several examples define her strength and make her be lovable.
Every guy who reads this story thinks of having a strong and
passionate lover like Juliet.
A changing face and young blissful soul who loves to be loved
and commits to a person showcases her sorest quality. She is
soft-spoken, yet makes an impression.
Her sorest strength is commitment. She could have let Romeo die,
but yet she commits herself to die with Romeo.
Drawbacks
- Eventually, she fell in love too quickly. But the age figures out the eagerness to love someone and to be with someone.
- Her stubbornness made the entire story move in a different way ending tragically.
- Her quick judgments and decisions took her life away. Immaturity and impracticality led both lives to lose their lives.
Tybalt Capulet
A young, argumentized cousin of Juliet who is short-tempered and
who had decided to hate Montagues until he dies. He is strong-willed, argumentative, passionate, and loyal. All of these
characteristics are demonstrated when he finds out that Romeo
has gate-crashed a Capulet party, knowing that the Montagues are
not welcome. Tybalt reacts badly, almost causing a fight at the Capulet household. Lord Capulet quickly intervenes and tells
Tybalt not to fight Romeo and Tybalt reluctantly obeys. Tybalt
seeks his revenge by fighting with Romeo, but when Romeo refuses
to fight he kills Romeo's best friend, Mercutio, instead. This
causes Romeo to avenge his best friend's death.
“It fits when such a villain is a guest: "I'll not endure him"
This indicates that Tybalt is stubborn and insistent, saying
that Romeo's presence would have been excusable if he had been
invited, but he was there without invitation and had to be
dealt with.
Lord Capulet clearly knows that Tybalt is of a choleric
disposition, meaning that he has a quick temper.
Tybalt, throughout the story, is shown as an aggressive man and
strong manhood person who hates Montagues just like his previous
generations. But at the same time, he is also a LOYAL person
Why, uncle, 'Its a shame."
This expression of his shows loyalty and obeying the orders of
the elders. The sentence won't show as Tybalt actually agreeing,
but since he has loyalty towards Lord Capulet, he is obeying the
order.
CONCLUSION
When FRIAR LAURENCE says “these violent delights have
violent ends” expresses that the Story gonna end tragically.
Analyzing the characteristics and The characters both Romeo and
Juliet still remain as sorest enthusiasts in history. Both the
characters are young and Still enjoying the youthfulness,
falling in love and taking wrong decisions at the wrong time
makes them take away their lives. The characters define a strong
passion for love but forget to think when being in love.
Loving
is not just about being with someone, instead, understanding
them and living the moments that make them happier, which makes
life better. Romeo and Juliet forget to stand for love instead
fails in enjoying those moments of getting accepted by their
families.
The story holds a strong moral line. Taking revenge
is not the ultimate aim of a person, being loved is the ultimate.
The story also showcases, A great friend like Mercutio needs to
be around to maintain peace.
The family rivalries should not last long, but love and peace
should last long are the moral of this story with a great message
to mankind. Furthermore, when we start reading, at the beginning
the emotions and the expressions of these two families make the
reader know-how bad the relationship between Montagues and Capulets is moving ahead from time to time.
The passion and
chaos in love last long. These moments won't come back again for
you to love, but you can hate someone every minute but you cannot
love someone every minute if you start hating them every minute.
Why do Romeo and Juliet stand as the greatest tragic
story?
The story is not just completely based on love but has moral
lines that give or take, ‘do not take decisions when you are
sad’. Do act immaturely until you know the value of maturity.
Do not fall in love quickly without knowing what love is as well
as without thinking of living the moments. But the story remains
in the hearts forever for a reason, and that is ‘LOVE’. It is
considered the most beautiful thing when you feel that you are
matured enough to accept reality. Everybody loves to be loved,
everybody has different ways of loving someone, such as Romeo
and Juliet. When we take the positive side of it, how could the
family war ended without the lives getting sacrificed? Either
people from Montagues would have died or Capulets crew would
have died. How the family rivalries would have ended? There was
no other way other than this. But yet, young lives sacrificed
too much than the old and knowledgeable people......
